DESCRIPTION:Our February meet-up will occur on Wednesday\, 2/19 from 4-6pm at Clawson’s Restaurant in Beaufort. We will participate in a Carteret Critique\, passing our work to fellow writers for feedback\, using constructive critique guidelines. Please bring 3-5 pages of work\, stapled or otherwise attached together. Each reviewer will spend fifteen minutes on a piece of writing before passing it along to the next reader. \n\n\n\nDon’t worry about the exact length of your writing – short pieces will leave extra time for reader reflection\, and longer works will receive feedback on their first pages but maybe not the ending. Please do use a standard font in at least 12 point – the more legible your work\, the better chances of  usable feedback.

We’ve got a haunting agenda planned with time for writing\, socializing\, and sharing.  \nDuring the writing portion of the meetup\, professional ghostwriter Autumn Ware will ghoulishly guide you through a series of quick\, creative exercises in building suspense. All you’ll need for this mini-workshop is a standard spell book\, a magic wand\, and your brain – though you can substitute with a notebook\, pencil\, and someone else’s brain in a pinch. \nWe’ll also have time at the mic for writers who have a story or poem to share (four minutes per reader). \nNo story or poem? No problem. You’ve got time between now and then. Get a head start on suspense-building and craft a scary story to read at the event. Consider one of these prompts for inspiration. \n\nYour character is a ghost stuck haunting a chewed up pencil\, a coffee pot\, or some other mundane object.\nA team of archaeologists quickly discover that they’ve uncovered something that should have stayed buried.\nYou are in possession of a possessed book.
