SUMMARY:Ekphrastic Writing Contest
DESCRIPTION:Carteret Writers is holding an ekphrastic writing contest in conjunction with the Arts Council of Carteret County’s Art from the Heart Event. Ekphrastic writing aims to vividly describe visual art pieces in literary form\, creating another representation of the visual art piece in writing. \nParticipants in the ekphrastic writing contest may view visual art submissions before the Art from the Heart event officially opens  on Saturday\, February 4th from 12pm until 2pm in order to begin formulating their ekphrastic responses in time for the February 8\, 8am contest submission deadline. \nEkphrastic entries will be displayed for the entirety of the Art from the Heart show\, and attendees to the show throughout the event will vote to determine the top three ekphrastic responses.

SUMMARY:Art from the Heart Early Viewing
DESCRIPTION:In February 2023\, Carteret Writers is partnering with the North Carolina Arts Council (NCAC) and the Arts Council of Carteret County (ACCC) to bring the literary arts to the popular annual Art from the Heart event\, which showcases hundreds of pieces from Carteret County artists of all ages. On Saturday\, February 4\, 12─2 pm\, Carteret Writers members will get an early opportunity to view the local masterpieces in order to prepare for the ekphrastic writing contest we’re hosting with our partners in the arts. \nThis project was supported by the North Carolina Arts Council\, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources\, and by the Arts Council of Carteret County.
