The North Carolina Writer’s Network is offering a two-part online class with KB Brookins. Their class Building Your Platform As A Writer is now open for registration.

Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve got a book deal and are ready to take your work to the next level, building an author platform is a necessary tool in the business of publishing. Learn about what goes into creating a platform and what having a platform can do for you in this 2-hour class. KB will be covering: social media, website copy and design, crafting a bio, and how to submit and how to find the right venues for your work, and more.

KB Brookins is a Black, queer, and trans writer and cultural worker from Texas. Their chapbook How To Identify Yourself with a Wound (Kallisto Gaia Press, 2022) won the Saguaro Poetry Prize. KB’s poems and essays are published in Academy of American Poets, Huffington Post, American Poetry Review, and elsewhere. They have earned fellowships from PEN America and Lambda Literary among others, and currently serve as the 2022-23 Poet-In-Residence at Civil Rights Corps. KB has two forthcoming books, Freedom House (Deep Vellum Publishing,April 11, 2023) and PRETTY (Alfred A. Knopf, 2024).
